Stephen Lawrence Winwood net worth & biography:

Voted as one of greatest singers of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, Steve Winwood must be sitting pretty who has a net worth of $15 million. Steve Winwood’s money-making career as a vocalist crosses from over 50 years. He is also a notable producer and songwriter. By the age of 14, Winwood joined The Spencer Davis Group along with his older brother. The group went on to own a number one on hit, Keeping on Jogging. Winwood co-wrote and produced hits, Gimme Some Lovin’ and I am a Man. The rock star left the Spencer Davis Group to form the group Traffic, where he formed a writing partnership with fellow band member Jim Capaldi.

Steve Winwood Net Worth $15 Million Dollars

Together they produced a sequence of hits, including Paper Sun and The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys. Winwood then went to form the short lived ‘supergroup’ Blind Faith, alongside Eric Clapton. After Blind Faith, Winwood went solo, creating hits records, Arc of a Diver (1980) and Talking Back to the Night (1982). His hit single, Higher Love, earned him two Grammy Awards. Lately, Winwood continues to create sequence of hits and in 2004 a version of Winwood’s 1982 song, Valerie (re-recorded by Eric Prydz) spent five weeks at number one on the UK singles charts.

#Fact
1Father-in-law of Ben Elliot, son of Annabel Elliot, sister of Camilla Parker-Bowles.
2Is the youngest member of Traffic.
3Eric Clapton had considered asking Winwood to join Cream to help act as a buffer between Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, who didn't particularly care for each other. Unfortunately, the group broke up before Winwood could accept the offer. By an ironic stroke of luck, Winwood, Clapton, and Baker later teamed up together (along with Rick Grech) in Blind Faith.
4Hotly tipped to become the dance track of 2004, Eric Prydz's "Call On Me" was originally a 1980s smash hit for Winwood called "Valerie". When he heard the remix he thought it was so good he not only gave his permission to use the samples, he even re-recorded his vocals especially for the track.
5Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a member of Traffic, in March 2004.
6Suffered a severe bout of peritonitis that nearly killed him in the early 1970s.
7When Crosby Stills & Nash were looking for another musician to help them beef up their sound in concert, they asked Winwood if he would be interested in joining. Winwood declined due to the fact that he was already committed to his current band Blind Faith with Eric Clapton. Ironically, Clapton was also asked to join C.S.N..
8Founding member of the critically and commercially acclaimed band Traffic.
9The Spencer Davis Group recorded the intriguingly titled "Today Gluggo Tomorrow the World" written by Lynsey de Paul and Pete York.
10Had U.S. and U.K. solo hits with "Higher Love", "Valerie", "While You See a Chance" and "Back in the High Life Again".
11Brother of Muff Winwood.
12Member of the 1960s rock band Spencer Davis Group.

#Quote
1I smoked far too much dope and wasted a lot of my life.
2I went straight from Boy Scouts to rock 'n' roll. Fancy that!
3I really love Americans and American musical roots. It could be my British need for discipline that makes me admire the American appetite for freedom and passion.
